Catherine Spencer has recently written a new novel entitled Good Intentions. It is set in the Regency period, and she has written it as a kind of homage to Jane Austen. In it she duplicates the tone and sensibility of the nineteenth century novel, including a healthy dose of humour and romance.
She intends to post weekly (Sunday) excerpts from the first part of her novel on her blog at http://www.goodintentionsnovel.blogspot.com/. She reports that, "I am doing this because the response I have received from the literary agents I have contacted to date indicates that I have created something outside of the typical historical novel genre, and I would like to know if the reading public would like to see more of this kind of writing." The first installment is on the blog now; the second installment will be posted this Sunday, January 3, 2010.
As the dreary winter months stretch ahead of us, it may be fun to have weekly installments of a new Regency novel to anticipate. Enjoy!
