CD of English Dance Music
Springtime greetings from Victoria, British Columbia;
The English Country Dance community in Victoria is celebrating the release of a brand new CD, The Dancehall Players: Live From Dan’s Hall - Music for English Country Dance.
With familiar tunes from Knole Park (1788) to the Duke of Kent’s Waltz (1801), and a handful of less frequently recorded tunes such as Agatha (1631), Fandango (1774) and Jack's Health (1718) plus some brand new tunes by members of the band, this CD is made for dancing and listening. Jane Austen herself might have known and danced to some of this music, which was written specifically for dances in the manor houses of the time.
The CD is available on CDbaby (where you can listen to a bit of music from each track) at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/DancehallPlayers*
OR
you can order it directly from the Victoria English Country Dance Society website at http://www.vecds.bc.ca/Dancehall_Players_CD.pdf
