Corresponding with the WORLD PREMIERE of Jon Jory’s theatrical adaptation of Jane Austen’s EMMA, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and Columbia and Montour Counties are hosting three Jane Austen Weekends. Lodging packages include hotel stay, one ticket to a performance of EMMA at the Alvina Krause Theatre, FREE admission to the Saturday Afternoon “Conversations, Presentations & Panel Discussions” featuring scholars, performers, filmmakers, and other experts in Jane Austen, including playwright Jon Jory, and FREE admission to the Sunday Evening “Lecture Series”, post show conversations with the show’s director, actors, and designers.Participants can also enjoy discounts and events at local restaurants and stores. Also in the planning: A Regency Dance event and high teas!


Jon Jory (playwright) is an icon of American Theatre. He served for decades as the Artistic Director of the Tony Award-winning Actors Theatre of Louisville ( Louisville , KY ). In Louisville , Mr. Jory founded the Humana Festival of New Plays, America ’s leading and largest annual new play festival. He currently serves as chair of the University of Washington ’s School of Drama in Seattle. His adaptation of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE has become one of America ’s most frequently produced plays.


Bloomsburg is a historic, charming little town, 3 hours from New York , Philadelphia, or Baltimore ...a perfect destination for a Regency experience to brighten up a late winter weekend.
