Earlier this month, The Bowler Press, of Vancouver BC, released a limited edition letterpress-printed broadside of FW's letter to AE.
Capt. Wentworth's Letter was hand-set in Spectrum italic and printed on Magnani Revere 'stationery' from the White Hart Inn in an edition of 200 copies. The approx. 6.5 x 10.5 inch broadside is printed in four colours and features a small engraving by Jarrett Morrison. A short colophon appears on the verso, with hand-written edition number. It comes enveloped in indigo blue Canson Mi-Teintes paper, gold foil-stamped: "from Persuasion, Jane Austen."
Price: $25 CAD (plus postage).
Some photos are available on The Bowler Press website.
JM writes: This piece is part of the run up to doing Pride & Prejudice in three volumes, starting with V1 in 2012. I will be printing several of the letters from that book as separate pieces ahead of the books proper (part of the funding campaign). Darcy's Letter is already in the design phase.
The Bowler Press is the imprint of Jarrett Morrison. The Press crafts limited-edition books, broadsides, and ephemera for admirers and collectors of fine printing. In 2010, second place limited editions was awarded to our premiere book, The Importance of Being Earnest, in the Alcuin Society's Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada.
I hope that your members will find news of this broadside of interest. Anyone wishing to place an order may contact me at print@thebowlerpress.ca.
