Jane Austen Summer Camp

As the new academic year starts there are probably a lot of students already dreaming about next summer.  If you are like those students and as you wrap up your summer plans you are already planning for next summer I have an event you might want to consider inking in to your date book.

JASNA-CT's first Jane Austen Summer Camp!

This even will be held July 26-28, 2013.

The theme will be: Random Acts of Regency Naughtiness

Here is a brief run down of what they have planed already (programs still in development and subject to change).


Friday, July 26
  • Keynote to be delivered by Dr. Mark J. Schenker, associate dean and English lecturer, Yale College.
  • Game: Who Wants to be a Duchess?

Saturday, July 27

  • Breakout Sessions
    • Regency Penmanship
    • Regency Hairstyles
    • Make a Regency Reticule
    • Workshop #4 TBATea
  • Regency Dance Workshop lead by Susan de Guardiola
  • Evening keynote to be delivered by Irene Urban, Regency food and dining expert.
  • Regency Ball (called by Susan de Guardiola)

Sunday, July 28
  • Gather for Promenade to the General Mansfield House, headquarters of the Middlesex County Historical Society
  • Tours of the historic General Mansfield House
  • Keynote to be delivered by Dr. Mark J. Schenker, associate dean and English lecturer, Yale CollegeIce cream sundaes and viewing of a Jane Austen movie (optional)
