Jane in New Jersey

Here a few upcoming Jane Austen themed programs around the state:

Saturday, March 16 at 2 pm

We'll be hosting our March meeting at the Twin Rivers Branch of the Mercer County Library System.

Mark Turner will be presenting Pray Tell Me: Regency Charades.
These charades were rhyming riddles as opposed to the kind we play today.  So come out and join us while we enjoy these authentic Regency charades - the rhyming riddles that caused such upheaval in Jane Austen’s “Emma”.
For samples you can visit Mark's blog

Monday, March 18 at 7 pm

Jane Austen: Her Life and Times
Waretown Branch of the Ocean  County Library System

Trish Chambers, actress and historian, brings Jane Austen to life.  Her presentation will cover the realities of English Society at the time of Jane Austen’s life and literary career.  You will have a better understanding of what a woman’s life was like at the time.  Also explored will be how Jane Austen portrayed society in her six major works, how the personalities of her heroines developed over the span of her novels, and how events and experiences of her personal life are reflected in her fiction.  Suitable for sixth grade students through adults.   Please register

If you see a Jane Austen related program please let us know!

Hi Janeites! Thank you for visiting our website. We invite you to comment on our content. Of course, Lady Catherine would believe us all to behave like gentlemen and ladies, so please let us not disappoint her.

Also, please leave comments in English, as only Lady Catherine, had she ever studied a foreign language, would be a great profient enough to read such comments. (Merci! Arigato! Gracias!)
