JASNA-NY invites you to meet Amanda Root--Anne Elliott of Persuasion.JASNA-NY states: We are delighted to announce that Ms. Root has graciously accepted our invitation to be interviewed by Elsa Solender about her appearance as Anne Elliot in the 1995 Sony film adaptation of Persuasion, praised by many critics as the best-ever adaptation of Austen's last completed novel. She will talk with Elsa about her preparations for playing Jane Austen's heroine opposite Ciaran Hinds (Captain Wentworth) and share some behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Mr. Hinds, when he saw the film on the big screen for the first time at our event in Brooklyn last year, particularly praised Ms. Root's performance. Most Janeites agree that she brilliantly brought to life one of Austen's most beloved and complex characters Amanda Root is currently appearing on Broadway in the highly acclaimed revival of Alan Aykebourne's comic trilogy The Norman Conquests. Her outstanding performance has earned her both Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for outstanding featured actress in 2009.
